On Sunday, the United States’  National Men’s Basketball team came to practice at the Charles E. Smith Center in preparation for their exhibition game against Brazil tomorrow.  Students, faculty, and staff watched the team run through drills and scrimmages.

During the team’s media accessibility period, I got some soundbites from around the court. First, Philadelphia 76ers forward Andre Iguodala gave some insight on his 18 point performance in Team USA’s 113-59 blowout of the Dominican Republic last Thursday.  He also alluded to the impact his experience during the 2010 FIBA World Championship would have in this year’s Olympics.

Kevin Love of the Minnesota Timberwolves talked about playing on campus and being a part of yesterday’s clinic at the DC Armory. Notably, he had a four-point play in last week’s contest.

Oklahoma City Thunder guard James Harden commented on how this past season’s NBA Finals appearance has prepared him for this stage.

When asked about a rivalry with the newly moved Brooklyn Nets, New York Knicks star forward Carmelo Anthony immediately put that notion to rest.

His teammate Tyson Chandler was a bit less forgiving, alluding to an earlier comment concerning this present Olympic team and the 1992 Dream Team.
